As an independent systems integrator, Eckelmann selects the appropriate PLC manufacturer, the operating & monitoring software and, if needed, the suitable drive technology together with the customer. The use of industry standards guarantees that the customer’s automation solution is open and extensible.

Eckelmann’s system-transcending competence offers plant operators major advantages. This becomes clear, for instance, in the smooth migration to next-generation controls (Retrofit) or in the conversion to a different PLC system. Our engineers develop tailor-made solutions that fit into the existing infrastructure and thus protect investments.

As a member of the Siemens Solution Partner Automation Scheme, Eckelmann has particularly extensive experience with the Simatic S7 automation system and with the associated operator panels. Simatic S7 FM 458 modules and the Simatic TDC control system are used for the implementation of highly complex technological control loops with short sampling times.

From graphical process design to programme code

PLC programming at Eckelmann is carried out methodically and in conformity with established standards, subject to quality assurance according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015. Sequence controls are designed in accordance with the finite state machine method which is particularly easy to understand for developers and users. Sequences are intelligibly defined, translated into code for the target system and automatically documented with StateCase, the proprietary graphical development environment. Code generators are available for different target systems.

Next to function charts, ladder diagrams and statements lists, Eckelmann, for PLC programming, preferably uses higher-level programming languages in accordance with IEC 61131-3, such as Structured Text (ST) and Sequential Function Chart (SFC).
