Monitoring and optimising refrigeration systems online

One linear metre of refrigerated cabinet consumers the same amount of energy per year as a single-family household of four persons. Little wonder, then, that the issue of energy management in food retailing is a long runner and that the energy optimisation in food product markets and discounters has long become a decisive competitive factor.

The LDSWeb web application is our answer to the increasing demands placed on the monitoring and optimisation of refrigeration systems. Often, effective monitoring and permanent analysis still fail because of simple technical problems with the special software or data transmission.

One browser is sufficient

Any standard browser will suffice to operate LDSWeb. The server retrieves all data from the connected refrigeration systems and, if necessary, from the building management system. For the comprehensive energy assessment of a supermarket, LDSWeb optionally records consumption data such as energy, gas, water or long-distance heating. The number of markets that can be monitored with LDSWeb is virtually unlimited.

All data are displayed in clearly arranged tables and graphs which, thanks to modern web technologies, can be intuitively adapted by mouse click to specific requirements – for instance, with the zoom function.

On the basis of a continuous monitoring of refrigeration systems, the energy management system develops efficient measures for increasing energy efficiency and evaluates their success.

LSDWeb gives access to a whole range of useful tools for the energy assessment and comparison of refrigeration systems. These include, for instance, fault and consumption profiles and the standardised comparison of the energy consumption in several markets. Benchmarking and ranking tools are interesting in terms of a commercial evaluation.

Alarm management

The current alarms (e.g. “coldroom door “open or “compressor fault”) are issued in clearly arranged charts and can be displayed in order of priority. The operating data of each participant can be graphically analysed in their chronological sequence – a helpful tool in the fault analysis.

Past alarms can be viewed in the fault history. In addition, LDSWeb creates alarm statistics for any period of time. Comparing alarm statistics of structurally identical markets might also prove reasonable. This function, too, is supported by LDSWeb – at any time and even at an interval of several years.

Temperature documentation in accordance with HACCP

24-hour temperature lists including the hourly average values of all refrigeration points are another important feature. Defrosting events can be highlighted with corresponding icons, exceedances appear in red. Problems can thus be quickly identified and solved and the system, effectively protected from damage.

The temperature lists can also be used for HACCP-compatible temperature documentation (EC regulation 37/2005), and can be printed and exported as PDF or Excel files.
