Eckelmann FCS Celebrates 50th Anniversary

Innovative Automation Solutions Emerge in Herford

Herford, August 2023. The year is 1973. The song “Mama Loo” by the Les Humphries Singers is playing on the radio — and in Herford, engineer Wolfgang Quehl establishes the planning and design office Ferrocontrol. Since then, continuous innovations and forward-looking developments have been integral to the identity of Eckelmann FCS GmbH. This month, FCS celebrates its 50th anniversary.

As a complete solutions provider for production systems and machines with high competence in automation and drive technology, Eckelmann FCS boasts extensive industry experience — especially in profile and bar processing, window construction, dental technology, concrete printing, and sawing automation.

To this day, the company remains a pioneer in the field of high-performance FPGA-based control algorithms for real-time processing in servo drives. Currently, nearly 100 employees work under the management of Frank van Beek and Leo Schacke at Bodelschwinghstraße 20, where administration and production are housed under one roof.

“Our passion lies in developing and manufacturing cross-industry solutions for the needs of mechanical engineering,” explains Leo Schacke. Naturally, FCS recruits qualified professionals from within its ranks — engaging students early and training school graduates. Leo Schacke makes a promise: “We will continue to inspire our customers with innovations, technical expertise, exceptional people, and reliable service, and remain a strong employer for Herford!” The management’s thanks go especially to the employees: “Without you, this success story would not have been written!” emphasizes Frank van Beek.

Since 2006, Eckelmann FCS has been a subsidiary of Wiesbaden-based Eckelmann AG. The Eckelmann Group presents itself as a strong network and full-service provider for industrial automation and digitalization. Eckelmann engineers are passionately enthusiastic about technology. They combine pragmatic, goal-oriented thinking with the utmost care and reliability. This entrepreneurial spirit is embodied by the board and 500 employees of the group.
