Eckelmann is a development partner for intralogistics systems and in-house customer processes: with pioneering solutions and control systems for managing individual systems or production lines via Eckelmann FactoryWare® Solutions.

At LogiMAT, Eckelmann presents customer-specific automation solutions: The camera-based counting gate FactoryWare RCD S+ (Reusable Crate Detection) for the digital bulk detection of reusable containers in logistics depots combines efficient automation with unique visualization expertise. Eckelmann is a development partner for intralogistics systems and in-house customer processes: with pioneering solutions and control systems for managing individual systems or production lines via Eckelmann FactoryWare® Solutions.

At LogiMAT 2025 in Stuttgart, the Wiesbaden-based Eckelmann Group will showcase customer-specific automation solutions from March 11 to 13 in Hall 6, Booth A25. A premiere that starts with an initial presentation: New is Eckelmann’s presence at this international trade fair for intralogistics solutions and process management – featuring a customer application that will be presented live for the first time and is competing in the “Software, Communication, IT” category for the “Best Price” award!

The RCD S⁺ product enables automated bulk detection of pallets stacked with reusable plastic containers (RPCs) of various designs, such as foldable crates or multi-use boxes.

Sustainable Optimization and Increased Efficiency

The process-secure counting and detection by the RCD S⁺ takes only a few seconds, compared to 20 minutes of manual labor in the past. This makes the Eckelmann Group’s solution one of the most space-saving and efficient counting gates on the market.
Reusable packaging containers (RPCs) are an integral part of sustainable supply chains. They have numerous applications: they are used to transport food such as fruits, vegetables, bread, and meat, as well as automotive supplier components or pharmaceuticals for pharmacies.

Upon arrival, the palletized reusable containers are fed into the RCD S⁺, identified, recorded, counted, and the results are provided to the logistics depot for billing with its customers.

Currently, more than 20 systems are in operation across Europe for pooling service providers.

Expert in Image Recognition and Visualization

Eckelmann provides paired columns with camera technology and image recognition for automated bulk detection and counting of RPCs, KLTs, and other stackable container or packaging units. This system even works without barcodes.

The gate itself is designed for use in logistics depots. Its compact construction is tailored to common truck dock widths and can therefore be installed directly at truck gates for both inbound and outbound goods processing.

The image recognition system communicates with higher-level systems such as ERP or document management systems, while container data and interfaces are customized to customer requirements.

Additionally, FactoryWare RCI (Reusable Crate Inspection) detects defective, contaminated, and foreign containers and sorts them out. Depending on the application requirements, each RCI and its vision components are tailored to the individual customer application and the items to be inspected.

RCT (Reusable Container Tracking) manages tracking, tracing, and documentation for digital traceability.

Customized Automation for and with the Customer

The strength of the Wiesbaden-based company lies in customer-specific solutions – combining production planning and process technology.

As a full-service provider for industrial automation and digitalization in intralogistics, the Eckelmann Group offers system integration from a single source: with customer-specific automation, hardware and software development, lifecycle management, and smart services.
